Five BME projects win funding at this year's EELISA Joint Call

Artificial intelligence, sustainable cities and 6G for all.

Results have been announced for the EELISA Joint Call for innovative and interdisciplinary community projects that support challenge-based learning. BME is involved in five of the nine selected activities - in two of them as project leader - making it 

the second most active of the organisation's member institutions after UPM of Madrid.

EELISA, established in 2020 with BME as a founding member, encourages students, teachers and researchers to join forces in the academic and community life of universities. The association, with 10 European technological universities from Paris to Istanbul, launched its fifth annual call in February, with a total budget of €140,000.

Nine out of 23 applications were selected, according to the announcement. According to the judges, these "focus on key topics such as sustainability and its connection to engineering, the role of social sciences, and the importance of European cultural contexts in shaping educational experiences".

BME is involved in the following projects: 

Generative AI Experience Lab: A Challenge-Based Learning Approach for Creating the Next-Generation Sustainable Building Services. Lead: Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (ZHAW). Participants: BME, École des Ponts ParisTech, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).

Artificial intelligence for translation and interpreting. Lead: BME. Participants: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), ZHAW.

Think Tank on Sustainable Buildings and Cities. Lead: UPM. Participants: BME, Istanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Université Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL), ZHAW.

Summer School: 6G to All. Lead: BME. Participants: FAU, UPM.

Nature Based Solution Challenge. Lead: PSL. Participants: BME, FAU, Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari, Universitatea Politechnica Bucuresti, UPM.
