EELISA

EELISA (European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance) is an association of ten leading universities from eight European countries. BME is among the founders of the association established in 2020, and its students may attend the nine European partner universities with Erasmus and EELISA scholarships alike.

Several shared research projects have been launched involving students under EELISA auspices. BME students as members of the EELISA community may participate in international traineeships, choose from the list of training programs, short and distance courses and professional contests and challenges developed and mutually recognised by the participating universities

The association includes universities of science and arts, technical universities, grandes écoles in France, management and other tertiary institutions with a total of 200 000 students. Participating higher education institutions:

  • Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany
  • Universitatea Politehnica din Bucureşti, Romania
  • Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, France
  • École des Ponts ParisTech, France
  • Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain
  • İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Türkiye
  • Scuola Normale Superiore, Italy
  • Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Italy
  • Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, Switzerland
  • Budapest University of Technology and Economics

EELISA universities mutually recognize several subjects and have developed joint training programs. In addition, they wish to develop an engineering degree accredited in all EU member states in the long term. They also endeavour to create a new European education model through which to define the “European engineer”: a professional who is ready to work within interdisciplinary, multilingual and diverse pan-European environments.

Depending on the extent of their involvement at the programs offered by the association, participating students may be awarded up to three different EELISA certificates, diploma supplements and joint degrees.

BME has played an active role ever since the inception, e.g. hosting the conference of the association leaders. BME researchers are involved in EELISA’s research-development and innovation program, InnoCORE. Its purpose is to create an interdisciplinary and international research-development and innovation cooperation network, with open science and gender mainstreaming among other things on its banners.

The association enjoys the support of the European Union: EELISA was awarded a 14.4 million euro grant in 2023 under the “European Universities” initiative of the European Commission, to continue cooperation in training and research.
