At the BME Physical Education Centre, nearly 5,000 students take part in organised physical education classes and recreational activities every week, under the supervision of highly qualified physical education teachers and sports coaches. The most popular sports are ball games, strength training, martial arts and yoga.

Extracurricular tasks of the Physical Education Centre include organising recreational sports activities for students, hosting BEFS Universitas and MEFOB tournaments and delegating BME students to international university events organised by EUSA and FISU. Each year, thousands of students participate in the University Sports Days in the autumn term, organised by the Physical Education Centre in cooperation with the University Students’ Representative Council.

BME Rowing Club (MEC)

Of all the Hungarian university rowing clubs founded at the turn of the century, BME's MEC is the only one that has maintained its continuity and was re-established in 1989 after the transition into democracy. It is one of the country's most dynamically developing clubs, which has given and gives many athletes to the Hungarian national team, plays a significant role in the education of junior athletes, and is also an important Hungarian base for recreational sports and veteran coaching. The MEC base for water sports is located on the banks of the Soroksár Danube.
