National Technical Information Centre and Library (OMIKK)
The mission of the National Technical Information Centre and Library of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME OMIKK) is to support the research and education in the university through its collection and services.
As a university library and archives, its primary users are the students, lecturers, researchers, and co-workers of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME, henceforth: university). Its collection and services are public. As an archive of higher education, it provides the public documents’ research from the university to the public.
Research and Publication
The BME OMIKK is committed to supporting research. Through its activities, it assists in the management of research data and publications, and provides access to numerous international and domestic scientific and scientometric tools and databases. It not only offers consultation services for researchers but also conducts scientometric analyses and updateing citation records, which provide real help in evaluating research performance and preparing grant proposals. They also place great emphasis on dissemination of the available databases, scientometric tools and publishing options, which are presented through workshops and training sessions. Search and Learn
The library also strives to greatly assist the work of educators and students. Its activities supporting education and learning include providing accessible literature and access to learning resources either in electronic or printed form. They also organize educational courses and seminars to teach the use of databases, library catalogs, and digital tools. The BME OMIKK supports students’ studies beyond providing information sources – offering study spaces and technical tools that provide opportunities for both individual and group work and improving presentation skills.
