Quiz, psychology and pancakes at the autumn International Days
2024. 12. 04.The program series created an opportunity to build relationships and celebrate cultural diversity.
The International Days awaited the participants at BME with exciting programs. The event, organized jointly by the university's International Mentor Team (IMT) and the Directorate of Sales and Services (ÉSZI) with the support of the National Union of Students in Hungary (HÖOK), aimed to foster relationships between Hungarian and international students while celebrating cultural diversity. Participants were able to get to immerse themselves in each other's traditions through community experiences.
The series kicked off on Thursday evening with a Quiz Night hosted at the Wigner Dormitory. About 40 members of six teams consisting of Hungarian and international students competed in topics ranging from art to geography to gastronomy. The best three teams were awarded valuable BME-themed prizes sponsored by the BME Shop.
On Friday morning, an intercultural workshop took place: the participants, led by psychologists from ÉSZI, explored the possibilities arising from cultural differences through psychological games and interactive exercises. The aim was to promote open communication, understand different perspectives and develop skills that enhance students’ everyday lives on and off campus.
The highlight of the events was the Friday evening International Dinner, where students from different countries showcased the flavors of their national cuisine. IMT, in collaboration with the Hungarian student groups, represented local gastronomy by offering dishes such as chicken paprikash, pancakes, and "floating islands" (a traditional Hungarian dessert). Approximately two hundred Hungarian and foreign students attended the dinner.
