2024. 11. 18.The contracts with AVL Hungary Kft. and Power-to-Gas Hungary Kft. should help education and research.
Rector Charaf Hassan and chancellor Miklós Verseghi-Nagy have signed two collaboration agreements promoting energy research and development as well as professional training with two companies at the forefront of innovation.
Graz-based AVL is one of the key players in the global vehicle industry, developing internal combustion, hybrid and electric engines and employing more than 10,000 engineers worldwide. AVL Hungary started its operations in 2002 with 16 people, today it has 500 employees at four locations. The company's experts participate in domestic and international projects, developing the powertrains of the future.
The cooperation agreement between AVL and the BME focuses primarily on practice-oriented training related to hydrogen technology, but it is expected to be expanded with professional workshops, joint research projects and professional support for BME graduates. On behalf of AVL Hungary Kft., Department Manager Péter Molnár signed the contract.
Founded in 2016, Power-to-Gas Hungary deals with the design, development and implementation of industrial-scale power-to-gas (P2G) plants and CO2 capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) solutions. For five years, the university and the company have been conducting joint research in the field of P2G technology - with this method, it is possible to produce green or carbon-neutral synthetic natural gas (SNG) from green hydrogen and carbon dioxide, which can also be used for heating, transport and industrial purposes.
Based on the recently signed agreement, the equipment installed at the university will not only make joint research more intensive, but students are also going to have the opportunity to get to know the technology. On behalf of Power-to-Gas Hungary, Managing Director dr. Zoltán Csedő signed the contract.
