The ceremony, held in the lobby of BME’s building K, was attended not only by the graduates and the faculty representatives, but also by representatives of several embassies concerned. András Nemeslaki pointed out that the participants represented more than a quarter of the world's countries and encouraged them to strive to create a better tomorrow in the face of global challenges: to be leaders and innovators in their local communities, to find solutions to make their environment better and happier. He went on to say that for academic achievement, they all receive a laurel leaf, and the one thing they must not do: sit on it, as it is "prickly as a thorn". Finally, he reminded the new graduates that anything they do will not only make a difference in their careers, but will also enhance the reputation of their alma mater. "Until last year, we only had three Nobel laureates. Since last year, we have four – and who knows what the future will bring", he noted.
The second to congratulate the graduates was Katalin Ivanov, HR Director of Schneider Electric Hungary, a strategic partner of BME. "You are future leaders, thinkers, the innovators, the dreamers. Each of you holds the power to make a difference, to inspire change, and to create a better future. Whether you are entering the workforce, continuing your studies, remember that your potential is limitless. Don’t be afraid to dream big, take risks, and go after what you want", he encouraged them. She added that she also recommends all of them to stick to the spirit of lifelong learning, stay curious, seek new experiences, take on challenges with confidence.
In addition to congratulating the graduates, László Gergely Vigh, Director of the Directorate of Foreign Language Education, thanked the parents, family members and friends of the graduates for their unwavering support and reminded that the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme provided the opportunity for most of the students to study. "I can assure you that this degree is well recognized all over the world and with this degree you will stand anywherein any circumstances", he said.
On behalf of the Students' Union, Dóra Baranyai, responsible for foreign affairs, bid farewell to the graduates. She said it may not have been the easiest time in their lives, but they can proudly say they overcame all the challenges and made lifelong friendships. He advised them to keep in touch with each other and never forget the great times they had together, because being part of the BME community enables them to many opportunities in life.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Al Araj Ahmad Fathi Mohammad (Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences) recalled how it felt like just yesterday they were navigating the maze-like hallways of BME building K, nervously searching for their first lectures. Now, here we stand, ready to take on the world. I want to express my deep gratitude for the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship, which gave us the opportunity to study at this prestigious university and become part of a vibrant international community", he said. He also thanked the professors who guided the foreign students along the way and concluded, "We did it!"
After the speeches, the representatives of the faculties - in the order of the date of foundation - awarded the diplomas.
Congratulations to all our graduates who have received degrees in English at BME – may all have success in their careers!
