The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is a programme for foreign students. The programme aims to promote cultural understanding, economic and cultural relations between Hungary and other countries. Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship „The core mission of the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship is to strengthen the ties between Hungarian diaspora communities and Hungary by giving access for young people living in Hungarian diasporas to study programmes in Hungary.” Please visit Tempus Public Foundation’s website for more information.

Scholarship for Christian Young People programme, founded by the Government of Hungary in the spirit of its solidarity policy towards persecuted Christian minorities. For more information, please visit the webiste of Hungary Helps Agency.

Students at Risk Programme  – The aim of the Programme is to provide higher education scholarships supporting the students in continuing their studies that they started in Ukraine and earning a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in Hungary.

You can apply for ERASMUS and EELISA if you will be a student of BME. 

Participate in Stipendium Hungaricum?

Stipendium Hungaricum is a scholarship program for foreign students, founded by the Hungarian Government in 2013. The program aims to promote cultural understanding, economic and cultural relations between Hungary and other countries.The Stipendium Hungaricum Programme is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation.

The program offers:

  • no tuition fee
  • monthly stipend
  • for BA/BSc, MA/MSc and one-tier master level programs: HUF 43,700/month (cca EUR 135) contribution to the living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies
  • for doctoral programs: HUF 140,000 /month (cca EUR 450) for the first phase of education (4 semesters) and HUF 180 000 (cca EUR 580) for the second phase (4 semesters), for 12 months a year, until completion of studies
  • dormitory place or additional contribution to accomodation costs
  • health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act No. 80 of 1997, national health insurance card) and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65 000 (cca EUR 205) a year/person

BSc applicants found to have inadequate skills in the basic subjects (Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry, and English) will be directed to the one-year Preparatory Course before the B.Sc. programs. 

If you are already a student at BME and you would like to apply for the scholarship: please contact your faculty in order to receive a recommendation letter from them which need to be submitted with the application to Tempus Public Foundation.

If you are already a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holder at BME:  please submit the E033 Request for changing institution, major or/and language of studies for SH students - available between 17th of October till 15th of November, 2022 (or E033 Request for changing institution, major or/and language of studies for SCYP students) For further infomation please do read through carefully the request before submitting!

If you are already a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holder and you would like to transfer to BME: please fill our on-line application form. The website will open for SH transfer students on 27th March, 2023The application deadline for transfer students is 16th of April, 2023. Please read carefully the Operational Regulations and the General Terms and conditions of your SH contract (3.3) on the website of Central Academic Office and contact the Faculty's coordinator for more details.
