Miklós Ybl Prize awarded to BME’s professor

The Ybl Prize was awarded to János Krähling, professor and head of the Department of History of Architecture and Monument Preservation at BME’s Faculty of Architecture.

This year, for the first time, we celebrate Hungarian Architecture Day on the day of Károly Kós' birth. On this occasion, the most prestigious artists of the contemporary architecture scene were awarded. On the 140th birthday of Károly Kós, János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport of Hungary, welcomed the participants of the award ceremony at the Pesti Vigadó.

The Károly Kós Lifetime Achievement Award was presented toSándor Dévényi DLA, professor emeritus architect, and was presented by architect József Finta and Minister János Lázár. In his speech, Sándor Dévényi stressed that we spend 90 percent of our lives in the built environment, so we should love the architects who produce the beautiful buildings around us. Finally, he thanked his friends and family, without whose support he would not have been able to receive the award.

The Ybl Prize was awarded to Péter Bordás, György Dénes and János Krähling, professor and head of the Department of History of Architecture and Monument Preservation at BME’s Faculty of Architecture.

The Pro Architectura Award was given to architects Zoltán Major and Péter Müllner, heads of Partizan Architecture and students of the Doctoral School of Architecture at BME.

The István Schönvisner Award was presented to Zsolt Gallina

The Gyula Foster Award was presented to László Besei

The Mihály Mőcsényi Award was presented to Attila Vincze

The Pro Architectura Award was presented to 

Imre Bődi and Zsolt Frikker (Studio Fragment), for the design of the new building of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Semmelweis University; 

Zoltán Major and Péter Müllner (Partizan Architecture), among others for the renovation of the Church of St Joseph the Worker in Cserépváralja; 

Tamás Getto and Gergely Sztranyák for the design of the new market hall in Pécs;

Csilla Hegedüs for the revitalisation of the Bánffy Castle in Bonțida.
