BME has moved up more than a hundred places to 741-750th in the 2023 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) world rankings.
The significance of this excellent result lies in the fact that among the Hungarian universities BME achieved the biggest improvement in its ranking compared to last year. As an indication of the value of the university's degree, BME is ranked 329th in the Graduate Employability Rankings.
The QS ranking assesses the world's top 3,000 higher education institutions on a number of criteria. The ranking is based on weighting according to Academic Reputation (30%), Employer Reputation (15%), Citations per Faculty (20%), Faculty Student Ratio (10%), International Faculty Ratio (5%) and International Students Ratio (5%).
This year's QS rankings include three new aspects, each with a weighting of 5%: the International Research Network, the Employment Outcomes and the Sustainability Indicators, the latter based on the QS Sustainability Rankings, published for the first time last October. In all three areas, Budapest University of Technology and Economics achieved outstanding results. It is ranked 493rd in the International Research Network category, thanks to its wide range of international R&D projects and its partnerships with foreign institutions. It should be noted that BME has close ties with 9 other excellent European higher education institutions in the field of education and research through the EELISA alliance. In the Employment Outcomes global ranking BME is at 329th place, which is a testament to the effectiveness of the university's industry relations and joint internship programmes. The institution is 360th in the Sustainability Rankings.

Budapest University of Technology and Economics was also highly ranked in the QS subject rankings published in March 2023. The organisation, which surveyed 20,000 institutions, ranked BME 224th in the world in the Engineering and Technology category. Quacquarelli Symonds published its new sustainability rankings, QS Sustainability 2023, in November 2022. BME achieved excellent results in these as well: it was ranked 198th as the best Hungarian institution according to the Environmental Impact indicator and 23rd among 700 institutions for the Sustainable Institution indicator. |
