ELECTION OF NEW RECTOR, appointment of new Vice-Rectors

Excerpt from Dr. Ákos Detrekői's  letter sent  to partner university Rectors, Presidents and Vice-Chancellors at the end of June, 2004:

            "After more than seven years, having served two terms as rector of the Technical University of Budapest(TUB), since year 2000 enlarged and renamed as  Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), I want to thank you for your continuous attention and support of the traditional relations between our institutions.

 

It is my duty and pleasure to inform you, Dear Colleague, that as a result of a recent election at BME University Council and designated by the President of the Republic, from 1st August, 2004 on, my distinguished colleague Professor Dr. Károly MOLNÁR, DSc., will take over as Rector of BME. Dr. Molnár is Head of the Department of Mechanical Process Engineering, and served earlier as Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and recently as Vice-Rector for Education."

 

 

Dear Partners/Associates,

 

It is our pleasure to let you know that the University Council of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics has recently decided to change the formerly used abbreviated names of the University in various foreign languages. Changing the different former abbreviations to the uniform BME logogram has been induced by the intention to use  

                               B M E

   as a trade-mark in a wider international context.

 

 

 

         Also from 1st August on, replacing the earlier Vice-Rectors the following new Vice-Rectors have been appointed :

Education: Prof. János Kövesi, Head, Dept of Industrial Mangement and Business Economics, Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences

Strategy :  Prof. Gyula Sallai, Head, Dept. of Telecommunication and Media Informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics

Research and International Relations: Prof. Miklós Zrínyi, Head, Department of Physical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical Engineering

(Mr. Antal Ádám, hon. Assoc. Prof.  continues as  Director, Department of Research and International Relations, (DRIR) Rector's Office, BME
